DESCRIPTION:TCPS Event: Join the Coquitlam Public Library in this two-part speaker series in partnership with Tri-Cities Pride Society and the TCPS LGBTQ+ Youth Committee \n\n\n\nThis series brings awareness of people who are from diverse groups and how everyone’s story is different. \nJune 12: We have always been here: 2SLGBTQIA+ Histories \nLearn about how local and global histories of Queer and Trans ways of living and activism have shaped the communities we exist in today and how they might inform the future world we want to build for ourselves. \n June 26: Queer Visions: The limitless potential of art \nThis panel features artists from our local 2SLGBTQIA+ communities sharing how their various art forms are vehicles of self expression\, resistance to oppressive structures and norms\, and forging broader and deeper connections to community. \nTCPS mission statement: “The Tri-Cities Pride Society (TCPS) is proud to serve the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in the Tri-Cities through a combination of activism\, social events\, and consultation\, with the goal of advancing inclusivity as well as additional objectives important to our communities.” \nA brave space: \n\nis a supportive place where participants feel comfortable learning\, sharing honestly and equally\, and growing individually and together.\nis inclusive of all races\, sexes\, genders\, abilities\, immigration statuses\, languages\, and lived experiences.\ncan help encourage dialogue\, especially about challenging topics like anti-racism.\nThere will be time for questions from the audience.\n\nRegistration is recommended for each session\, but drop-ins are welcome. \nLight refreshments will be served. \nIf you have any questions\, please contact Ann at ajohannes@coqlibrary.ca or Aman at asaroya@coqlibrary.ca
