DESCRIPTION:Join us for a walk around Lafarge Lake\, on Saturday May 3 from 1-2pm! We’ll meet just outside the Praugery at Town Centre Park Community Centre\, and we often do two laps of the lake. SUMMARY:Port Moody (Youth) Pride Festival
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Friday July 18 from 4-6pm at PoMoArts for a celebration of Pride in Port Moody! This event is for youth\, by youth\, organized by our LGBTQ+ Youth Committee\, and supported by a McCreary Centre Youth Action Grant. We are particularly grateful for our wonderful collaboration with PoMoArts\, and appreciate their dedication to improving inclusivity\, visibility and representation for the 2S/LGBTQIA+ community! \nThis event will include an opening ceremony at 4pm\, followed by live music from the lovely youth duo Aureane! We will have a queer youth art exhibition in PoMoArts Appleyard Parlour\, with pieces from the True Colours exhibit as well as additional artwork not yet displayed. We have a collaborative painting project inside the Kyle Centre’s Dance Room\, creating a rainbow flag on canvas using individual picture tiles created by youth onsite; this painting will be displayed all weekend long at Coquitlam Pride Festival and Pride in PoCo\, as well as being displayed at Port Moody Council through the Art At Council project. There will be a variety of other activities available onsite\, including art journalling with ACCESS Youth\, a BBQ provided by Port Moody Recreation\, and potentially a minigolf tournament! SUMMARY:Coquitlam Pride Festival
DESCRIPTION:Join us for Tri-Cities Pride Society’s second annual Coquitlam Pride Festival\, on Saturday July 19 from 12-5pm! We’re back at Evergreen Cultural Centre and Town Centre Park Community Centre\, and this year we’ve expanded our space to include the studio theatre! \nThe day starts with a Pride Story Time for children ages 0-8 and their caregivers\, put on by the Coquitlam Public Library\, from 10:30-11:30am. We have our opening ceremony at noon\, and then we will have a short Pride Parade through Town Centre Park along Pinetree Way. Booths and vendors will be open from 12-5pm\, so get to know your local organizations and get some rainbow merch to brighten up your day! We also have free facepainting onsite\, and many other activities provided by our partner organizations. \nOur Music Stage this year will be outside on the Town Centre Park Community Centre patio\, and we’re bringing you four amazing musical acts that you won’t want to miss! \nOur Workshop Series will be held in Evergreen’s Studio Theatre\, and will include our popular Drag Makeup tutorial as well as a dance workshop\, a poetry workshop\, and a queer indigenous speaker panel brought to you by Virago Nation! \nThis year our LGBTQ+ Youth Committee is bringing you their very own Youth Lounge\, a youth-only space with all music\, food\, activities and more! \nTri-Cities Pride Society is proud to continue to keep the Coquitlam Pride Festival totally free\, because we believe Pride is for everyone! SUMMARY:Port Coquitlam Pride Festival
DESCRIPTION:Pride in PoCo is an event run by the City of Port Coquitlam annually since 2019 (excepting a couple of Covid years). They put on a lovely outdoor festival with live performances from drag artists\, as well as many booths for vendors and community organizations. This year will be held at the newly renovated Leigh Square\, and Tri-Cities Pride Society is collaborating with them to create a day filled with joyful art! \nDenim Vest Design! \nThis year we are supported by the PoCo Foundation Community Grant to bring you our free interactive art activity: design your own denim vest! We’ve engaged a lovely PoCo resident and queer indigenous textile artist Scarlet Delirium (a founding member of Virago Nation) to design and facilitate this activity. Bring your own denim vest or pick from one of the thrifted vests we supply\, and let your creative mind soar as you pridefy your vest\, and show your true colours for all to see! Activity appropriate for all ages.
