DESCRIPTION:Pride and Allies Book Club \nDate & Time: Saturday\, February 4\, 7 – 8pm\nLocation: Coquitlam Public Library\, Poirier Branch Boardroom \nIs reading more one of your new years’ resolutions this year? Come join us at our Pride and Allies Book Club to read and discuss literature written by and/or starring folks from the 2S/LGBTQIA+ community. \nThis month\, our Book Club is reading The Colour Purple by Alice Walker. This notable novel won the Pulitzer Prize in 1983\, and was adapted into a movie starring Oprah Winfrey and a young Whoopi Goldberg. It also happens to be on of the most frequently banned books around. TCPS is also aware of the author’s current transphobia\, and we welcome discussions of this during the event. \nBooks are available free of charge from the Coquitlam Public Library\, in hard copy\, e-book and audiobook format. Our book club is free\, no registration is required! Drop-ins welcome.

This is a great event for anyone who wants to meet new people\, explore local spaces\, or add some more movement to their routine in 2026. As a bonus\, we’ll still be able to enjoy the final days of Lights at Lafarge. DESCRIPTION:We’re partnering with the Coquitlam Express hockey club again this year to bring you Pride Night\, an evening of raising awareness of and celebrating inclusivity in sports! \nThe Coquitlam Express were the first team in the BCHL to host a Pride Night that promotes inclusivity\, diversity\, and unity both on and off the ice. Fans can expect a night full of exciting hockey action\, as well as special Pride-themed activities and programming to highlight the importance of equality in sports. The Coquitlam Express invites all community members to join in the celebration\, support the team\, and demonstrate that hockey is for everyone. \nTickets are $10 if you purchase them through us (regular price $17)\, with half of those proceeds from ticket sales going right back into our very own programs and events. Another year of fabulous programs\, events\, and festivals has come to a close\, and a new year of planning is underway. We invite all our members\, allies\, community partners\, and like-minded organizations to join us for our Annual General Meeting on Saturday\, February 28 to learn about our plans for 2026. \nThis meeting will be available in-person and online. Led by our current President\, we will review our efforts in 2025\, update attendees on upcoming events and long-term planning. Members in attendance will also be asked to vote on a few points of business. If you want to vote during the AGM\, or are interested in joining our Board\, make sure your membership is renewed for 2026! TCPS membership fees directly support our organization’s events and operational expenses.
