Coquitlam Pride Festival

Coquitlam Pride Festival

The Tri-Cities Pride Society is proud to present the second annual Coquitlam Pride Festival, in collaboration with our partners the Evergreen Cultural Centre and the City of Coquitlam!

Last year, Coquitlam had it’s first Pride Festival due to the efforts of a group of students with the Charles Best GSA. We’re thrilled to continue to centre youth voices this year, through the guidance of our 2SLGBTQIA+ Youth Committee. Over half of the performers this year have been requested by or directly organized by the Youth Committee, and they have also provided suggestions and feedback on our direction and messaging throughout the planning process.

The Festival will take place on July 20 from 12-5pm at the Evergreen Cultural Centre and the new Town Centre Park Community Centre on the shores of Lafarge Lake. We have a fantastic lineup of performers, including music overlooking the park and workshops in the Evergreen Studio! All events are free and family-friendly.

Drag Story Time

Presented by the Coquitlam Public Library.

10:30AM - 11:30AM

Enjoy a fun, interactive story time with an amazing drag performer!

Pride Parade

We will start the day at noon with a Pride Parade, starting at Evergreen and taking the sidewalk parallel to Pinetree Way. No registration or fees are required: we request that folks wanting to take part in the parade arrive at 11:30 so we can organize folks into a line for the Parade! Please check out our Code of Conduct, which will help ensure folks feel safe and supported during the Festival. Our Parade will start off with an Opening Ceremony including an indigenous welcome and some words from our Society.

Live Music

During the afternoon, we will have live music overlooking Lafarge Lake, and we recommend bringing a picnic blanket to sit and enjoy, or practice singing your favourite song for our Karaoke session!

Workshops

We also have a wonderful lineup of workshops for education and entertainment. These are free and will be first-come, first served. We will have limited spots, so plan to arrive early!
