| Hi friends, We had a fantastic Tri-Cities Pride Festival Weekend this summer and have spent the last couple of months recovering from so much celebration with you all! Thanks to our wonderful community for your enthusiastic support, including volunteering, donating funds, and showing up to share your pride with us. Our cups are filled with all the positive energy you brought, and we’re excited for the year ahead! Meanwhile at TCPS, we’ve gained two enthusiastic new board members, completed a board retreat to develop a strategic plan for the next 3-5 years, and we’re working with Osler Law (who is very kindly donating their expertise!) to apply for charity status! You’ll be hearing more about all of these as we keep pushing forward our goals this fall. We have a few announcements for this edition of our newsletter: First, we have a new monthly event, Queers and Beers Tricities, run in partnership with Parkside Brewery! Meet new friends over a beer or non-alcoholic alternative, on the last Wednesday of the month from 7-10pm! Next, we’ll be running a fundraiser on November 26th at Parkside Brewery to raise funds for our operational costs and to keep our programs free and accessible! Mark your calendars, and we’ll send out more information soon! Finally, to support our charity status application, we are holding a brief online Special General Meeting on November 16 at 1pm to update our purpose in our constitution, so that it aligns with what the CRA considers charitable. If you’re a TCPS member, pop in and help us out by giving us your thumbs up! If you’re not a TCPS member yet, sign up here; it’s $15 but we offer accessible memberships all the way down to $0 for individuals! |
