Tri-Cities Pride Guide

Qmunity

Qmunity is a Vancouver-based 2S/LGBTQIA+ centre with a variety of peer-support programs, and other services such as legal aid clinics for ID changes.

These are resources specifically for 2S/LGBTQIA+ youth in the Tri-Cities, or BC at large.

Youth Well-Being Resources

PLEA Youth Support Groups

Did you know there are support groups specifically for queer and trans youth in the Tri-Cities? Run through PLEA, Gen Out provides a space for queer and questioning youth to meet and spend time together, playing games, watching movies, and having guest speakers. Click here or the image below to access their webpage.

PLEA also offers specific support for trans youth (age 13-25) and their families. The youth group and the caregiver group are run concurrently, so youth meet with a facilitator in one room while parents and caregivers meet with a facilitator in a separate room. Mental & Physical Health Resources


These are resources for mental and physical health services in BC, both specifically for 2S/LGBTQIA+ individuals and in general.

Provides a confidential crisis line for people who feel suicidal or know someone who might be suicidal. Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in up to 140 languages.


Indigenous Resources


These are local Indigenous-specific resources, both for 2S/LGBTQIA+ subjects and general help.

KUU-US Crisis and Care Society

KUU-US provides a BC wide Indigenous toll free crisis and support line, available 24/7, as well as other services. They have a general line, as well as age-specific lines you can call;

  • 1-800-588-8717 (toll-free)
  • 250-723-2040 for the child and youth line
  • 250-723-4050 for the adult and elder line

Other Resources


These are other, general resources that may be helpful in connecting people to services, advice or other needed things.

2-1-1 (BC):

Provides a free, confidential, multilingual service to connect people to helpful and vital resources. Offers information and referral to community, government and social services in B.C. Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Information is also available on their website at bc.211.ca.

HealthLink BC 8-1-1:

A 24 hour/7 days a week phone that can help you find local healthcare, and connect you directly to a nurse who can answer healthcare related questions.

VictimLink BC:

VictimLinkBC is a toll-free, confidential, multilingual service available across B.C. and the Yukon 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and can be accessed by calling or texting 1-800-563-0808 or sending an email to [email protected]. It provides information and referral services to all victims of crime and immediate crisis support to victims of family and sexual violence, including victims of human trafficking exploited for labour or sexual services, even if you are not sure if you are a victim of a crime.
