TCPS December 2025 Newsletter

We had an incredible time at our November Fundraiser, and you helped us raise over a thousand dollars towards our organization! For those of you who don’t already know, we’re a passionate group of volunteers here at Tri-Cities Pride Society, so the money made in this fundraiser helps to cover our very minimal operating costs and allows us to focus on creating programs and events for our community. So thank you so much for those who came to the event, those who donated items for the silent auction, and those who donated their performances for your enjoyment!

We also successfully changed our Constitution at our Special General Meeting in November, so thank you to those who were able to make that meeting and vote it in! One step closer to charity status! 🙂

We’ve got some great events coming up in December, including our regular Out and About walk as well as our new weekday evening edition which this month will feature the beautiful Lights at Lafarge! In addition, we’re reading a great queer book for our Pride and Allies Book Club (The Starless Sea), and our Queers and Beers Tri-Cities event this month falls on New Year’s Eve! So there’s lots of chances to connect before 2025 comes to a close.

We’ll also be holding our AGM early on in the new year, so watch out for our announcements coming soon! It’s your chance to join our enthusiastic team, and we’ll have a couple of vacancies available for new board members. Or if you have other ways you want to contribute, please let us know!

Out and About Walk
Saturday December 6, 1-2pm, Lafarge Lake
Come join us on the first Saturday of the month for some good company and a little movement! We usually do a few laps of Lafarge Lake. If your dog is friendly they are welcome to join us as well! Meet in front of the Praugery at Town Centre Park Community Centre. Free, no registration required.

“Pride” Movie Screening
Friday December 12, doors 6:30 show 7:00pm
Our friends over at Amnesty International (Tri-Cities chapter) are doing a film screening of “Pride,” a multiple award-winning movie based on a true story of LGBTQ+ activists in Britain in 1984. Highly recommended by those of us who have seen it, and highly anticipated by those of us who haven’t! Celebrate International Human Rights Day on Friday December 12 with a good story for a good cause! Tickets are $10 ($5 for the ticket and $5 for membership with Amnesty International).

Out and About Walk – Weekday Edition
Tuesday December 16, 7-8pm, Lafarge Lake
Come join us for our Out and About walk, weekday edition! Our regular Saturday walk has become so popular that we’ve added on a second walk, this time during the week. In December, we’ll be able to enjoy the Lights at Lafarge as we walk! We usually do a few laps of Lafarge Lake, and if your dog is friendly they are welcome to join us as well. Meet in front of the Praugery at Town Centre Park Community Centre. Free, no registration required. Please plan to give yourself a little extra time to arrive for this walk, as parking may be harder to find due to the Lights being a popular event.

Pride and Allies Book Club
Wednesday December 17, 7-8pm, Coquitlam Public Library Poirier Branch, boardroom
Join us for our last Book Club of 2025, where we read and discuss literature by and/or starring folks from the 2S/LGBTQIA+ community! We’ll be discussing “The Starless Sea” by Erin Morgenstern, a timeless love story set in a secret underground world—a place of pirates, painters, lovers, liars, and ships that sail upon a starless sea. Winner of the Dragon Award for Best Fantasy Novel, this is a mesmerizing read with a queer main character! Books are available free of charge from the Coquitlam Public Library, in hard copy, e-book and audiobook format. You can find us in the Boardroom at Poirier Branch; our book club is free and no registration is required!

Queers and Beers Tri-Cities – NYE!
Wednesday December 31, 5-8pm, Parkside Brewery
We’re so pleased how popular our Queers and Beers Tri-Cities hangout has been these past two months… and we’re extra excited that in December, the last Wednesday of the month falls on New Year’s Eve! We’ve moved the time to earlier in the evening, from 5-8pm, so come preparty with us or call it an early night! Queers and Beers Tri-Cities is a monthly hangout for 2S/LGBTQIA+ folks and friends at The Parkside Brewery. Bring a friend, or make a new one over a pint (or non-alcoholic beverage). No cost to attend, and you get 15% off pints for the evening!
